Like any oral surgery, you will need time to heal. Your bone and the implants must fuse together through the process of osseointegration, which will take several months. However, you will not leave the surgery without a set of teeth. Giri Palani, DDS, FICOI will fabricate a temporary restoration for you to use during the healing period. Once you have fully healed, we can proceed with the rest of the All-on-4 process. Implants and OsseointegrationTo receive dental implants, you must have a sufficient amount of bone in the jaw. The success of All-on-4 is largely the result of osseointegration. If your bone is too thin or too soft, the implants are likely to fail. Luckily, this can be remedied with a bone graft procedure. Ideal Candidate for All-on-4To determine if you are a suitable candidate for All-on-4, Giri Palani, DDS, FICOI will perform a comprehensive exam. At your consultation, we will take a variety of X-rays, using 3D CBCT technology to determine the jaw density and quantity. The goal is to discern if you have the proper bone structure and bite alignment to support All-on-4. We may have to take into account certain risk factors, such as pre-existing health conditions and lifestyle habits. Age is not a limiting factor for implant consideration. In general, the ideal candidate for the All-on-4 implant procedure is someone who is missing all of their teeth or is currently wearing dentures.
