Keeping your toothbrush clean and sanitary is important. After all, it goes into your mouth (hopefully) twice a day. You don't want to add new forms of bacteria into your mouth each time you brush, right?
Well, if you haven't been sanitizing your toothbrush on a regular basis, it is important that you get a new toothbrush and start doing that regularly. Your dishwasher is a simple way of keeping your toothbrush as clean as possible. How to Use Your Dishwasher to Sanitize Your ToothbrushIf you want your toothbrush to be sanitized, simply add it into a dishwasher run at least once per week. Put it on the top rack, and make sure the cycle is run with hot water. This kills off any bacteria that are on the bristles and head of the toothbrush, and leaves you with a toothbrush that is safe to put into your mouth. If your toothbrush uses electricity or batteries, make sure that you remove that part from the top end of the toothbrush. You do not want to wash that part, as it may not work when you take it back out. You should repeat this process at least one time per week, but it is safe to do daily if you want to make sure that you always have a fresh and clean toothbrush to use. Talk to your dentist about the perks of using a sanitized toothbrush. They can explain to you what would happen if you allowed those bacteria to keep multiplying, and used that toothbrush. When a toothbrush has the ability to remain wet and the bacteria to multiply, it can make you sick when you are trying to keep your mouth healthy. Find out what else you can do to improve your oral health today by talking with your dentist.
